Overview

This is a learning journey for those who want to delve deeper into their work. Over 6 months we’ll connect with our weird wild selves and explore new ways to make and create.
With Sheffield as our base we’ll get together every two weeks to play with new materials, build, make, paint, write, sing. As a peer group we’ll be better able to inspire each other and find inspiration all around us: in stories, paintings, myths, our local shop, the great outdoors. We’ll create playfully, unlock possibilities, collaborate, and allow our creativity to push beyond its boundaries.

Is it for me?

Do you love making stuff? Are you based in Sheffield or the North? Do you want to cultivate your creativity as you travel into the dark and mysterious autumnal/winter months?
This is an opportunity to invest in your creative powers, as you explore a personal question within our wider collective journey. This is a chance to give yourself dedicated time to explore and expand your making process without focusing on the final outcome. It is for those who want to think about an aspect of their work or craft that they can’t quite place yet, and who love to spend time making, crafting and creating.

Do it to...

1.

Go on an adventure with your craft. Make unexpected and exciting work, fuelled by new ideas, materials and techniques.

2.

Connect with other makers and doers in the North. Open doors to new collaborations.

3.

Give yourself time, permission and collaborators to play, get messy, and get weird with. Reconnect with the 'why' of making and being creative.

The Journey

We’ll kick off the Huddle with a residential weekend together in Yorkshire. Here we’ll get to know each other and co-design our 6 month adventure.
This Huddle will begin with an intensive Kick Off weekend of coach training, skills & network mapping, co-designing the journey and getting to know each other. From fortnightly meet ups to Power Up days, the next 6 months are designed to maximise the collective potential of the peer group. The journey ends with a showcase event, designed by the group to shine a spotlight on their learning.

Your Host

A caucasian man with medium length dark hair laughing against a bright blue background.
Hi I’m Charlie, a freelance facilitator, street performer and clown based in Sheffield. Keen to create more Sheffield community magic.
I’ve spent my adult life working in play, connecting and creating together. I’m inspired by the generosity of this city and I want to bring people together around the creative fire to spark through the darker months.
"Charlie is a natural facilitator - full of energy, creativity and charm. He creates rooms where ideas and relationships can be explored in safety and with a dose of humour"
